Here’s how gathering some items from home, a bit of outfit coordination and just a few clicks from your phone can get you a fabulous, DIY photo shoot for your Holiday card!
Matchy Matchy, go for it! – Pick three or four colors and wear only those tones – think accessories – hats, throws, scarves -all add some fun flare . We also LOVE matching family pjs!
Make it FUN! – We love making a holiday treat platter and hot cocoa for all to enjoy as a reward post photo session – also makes for a great prop in the photos.
No Photographer needed! – A $10 bluetooth remote that syncs with your phone makes picture taking super easy from any phone.
DIY Props – We took a hoola hoop, some hot glue and extra Christmas ornaments to create this great holiday prop. We also love taking some large grain glitter for those fun “blowing sparkly kisses” shots.
Bring the pets in on the fun! – TIP keep some treats hidden in your hand to hold their attention. One year, we decided to let our chickens in on our shoot, it got a little crazy when they started flying around, but we still laugh about it!
Texture – Look around the yard, an old ladder, a bench and a wreath were some quick additions to our setups
Go BIG – We borrowed a friend’s old beat up pickup for added drama and it was a great seating area for the picture.
Free Floral – I always say, head outdoors for some budget friendly floral and fauna. Here we clipped red berries and grasses to help with the “decor” of our set. PSA: Don’t forget your wellies, these grow in swampy areas but it’s worth it!
Lights for ambience – White lights from your Winter holiday box add a lot of atmosphere
Think outside, literally – Old pieces of fencing or palettes can add interest to your backdrop. Here we used extra pieces of lattice leftover from a home patio project to create a “fence” around our pick up truck scene to keep the chickens nearby
